Bryant goes to the Ophthalmologist

Bryant's appointment was at 8:15 this morning. We didn't see the Dr. until almost 9:00. Frustrating! The good news is they had a small play area for kids so Nick was able to entertain Bryant with the books and puzzles for a short time. Anyway, the first part of the exam was easy. All the Dr. did was make him look at a sticker. 2 seconds and no Strabismus! His eyes are fine. He did however want to rule out the option of farsightedness, so they had to dilate his eyes. Poor baby! More waiting so the dilation drops could take effect. After about 20 minutes or so we saw the Dr. again. By this point Bryant was ready to be done. To get through the rest of the exam I sang his favorite songs and the Dr. was able to examine his eyes very closely. He did awesome! Bryant's eyes are perfectly healthy. Praise God!!!

The reason the speech pathologist suspected the Strabismus is because Bryant would turn his eye inward or cross them if he was focused on an object closely.

Because of the shape of his face, specifically the bone structure above his eye and nose area...it looks as though he is crossing his eyes...the whites of his eyes disappear giving the illusion they are crossed but they aren't. This will go away as he gets older and his face matures. We will need to follow up with the Dr. in 9 months.
