My First ...

Trimester is almost over and I was finally able to tell all of my Spanx Family. Michelle and I made t-shirts. Mine said "Bun in the Oven" and hers said "Aunt Pea".

Everyone was suprised and excited for Nick and me. It was a great day. I am happy to be able to speak freely about it and not be afraid of someone over hearing.

Most of my co-works knew. They figured it out or I told them because they were suspicious. They would ask me, "Are you ok? You do not seem like your usual self." Is something wrong? Is there anything I can do to help?" "You seem stressed."

I'm a horrible liar and it was difficult to keep this secret from my Product Development (PD) team.

Michelle (Aunt Pea) was first to find out. I seriously didn't say a word and she guessed by my usual dramatic body language. I had just taken the test and was in shock. It was a great moment. Michelle is my very good friend and ali at work. We were so happy to announce.

Jadideah was second. We went to lunch together and we were catching up. She was asking me about my upcoming vacation to the beach. She said,"Are you looking forward relaxing and drinking by the pool ... Margarita's? I said no, and shook my head. So she said,"Well what about your favorite, Amoretto Sours? Or Pina Coladas? This goes back to my point about being a horrible liar. I just sat there shaking my head until I stopped and was just looking at her. She then said, "Are you pregnant?" and I of course shook my head. I guess I thought that not saying anything didn't count as me "telling" her that I was pregnant. I claim she figured it out on her own. It was probably written all over my face.

Then came there was Meredith and Kathy. We had a scheduled meeting to review the a wear test summary I put together. We were sitting there and not even a minute had gone by and one of them said, are you ok, you do not seem like your usual self? So I sat there for a second and then said, "I'm just not feeling well." Which was the truth. Meredith then said, "Are you pregnant." Not necessarily asking the question...she followed that with by saying, "When a young, newly married woman says, 'I'm not feeling well' it probably means she is pregnant." Kathy was just looking at me waiting for an response, so I said, "I am." I think they didn't believe me at first, but once I started talking more they were surprised and really excited.

I couldn't leave Sylma out, so I told her. She kept wanting me to try on bra's and I knew that she does not typically fit bra's on pregnant women because there size changes so much during pregnancy. So, I did one day and thought that she would suspect something because I have tried on bras for her before...but nothing. I guess she was focused on the task at hand. So, I didn't say anything. Later in the week she asked again and I said, "are you sure." She looked at me like I had 3 heads, so I said very softly, "i'm pregnant." She yelled and then gave me a hug. It was great.

I told Alison when she came back from her honeymoon because I knew she would figure it out. She actually said later that I looked pail, wasn't wearing as much makeup and had dark circles under my eyes...I guess she was just being honest. So, I showed her the ultrasound picture and told her that I was going to have a baby. She excited for me.

I eventually told Jody, Ladie, Emily and Sam. Bruno was the last to know and he found out yesterday.

Others who knew I was pregnant:

I also looked to Courtney for support. She is expecting her first baby in August. A baby boy. Her pregnancy has been very easy so I have been seeking advise.

I also told Jane "Janey". New mom in January. Everett is her baby boy's name and he is the sweetest thing ever. He was my little button all through her pregnancy because she didn't find out the sex. I was convenced she was having a girl, but boy I was wrong.

I told Sue and Julie. Sue first and then Julie. I didn't want them thinking I hated my job or I was serverly depressed, They were suspicious so I just couldn't keep it a secret from them.

I told Emily and then Jamie. I had been doing weight watchers with Emily, Jamie and Cat and when I found out I was pregnant I decided to stop the plan and do my own plan. Which became eat everything in sight. So, I had to come clean or Emily would be very dissappointed that I fell off the ww wagon.

I cannot forget about Lacarya. She was actually third to find out. First was Michelle, then Nick, then Lacarya. She was in recovery at Northside after having surgery and we (Sue and I) went to visit her in the hospital. I guess you would think this was cruel, but I just decided to blurt it out when we were leaving. I leaned in and wispered "i'm pregnant" and then immediatly left the room. All I heard, was "OMG" then my black berry started blowing up. It was GREAT!!! Sue did not know at this point so it was tough not telling her then, but I lasted a few more weeks.

How did Michelle find out before Nick?!?!? Of course, girls are better at figuring things like that out, but I always have a hard time keeping stuff from Rob--so he knows everything right away :)
