This is a picture of Dixie right after Nick got her home from the vet...
She was so out of it...still filling the effects from all the medication.
Her leg is wrapped for protection...black, to blend in with her spots -- less noticeable, ya think?
An extra long splint for support and a fitted cover to protect it from the elements.
You cannot see it in this image, but she has a bald spot on her left shoulder blade where they placed a pain patch which was to stay on for three days.
She also has one of those plastic cones that she is supposed to wear around her neck to keep her from chewing at her bandages...I'm sure we will need it later, but haven't used it much since she's been home...we watch her very closely.
Dixie was in her crate most of the day on Thursday as I had errands to run...plus it kept her stationary.
Bryant loves his big sister and didn't quit understand why she was in her crate. He had never seen it before and was very curious...all he wanted to do was touch Dixie. You can see him touching her paw. That made him happy...
Dixie's surgery was on Wednesday and we had to take her back to the vet on Friday because she had not gone potty. This might be TMI, but the Dr. had to extract urine with a needle inserted directly into her bladder. The Dr. extracted 20-25 large syringes of urine which Nick said filled 3 dog bowls. Poor Dixie!!! They said because of her sedation she just couldn't make herself go.
She is doing much better now. I just took these pictures of her tonight...
This is the spot where the pain patch was
The iodine is starting to rub off. You might also notice a much shorter splint. They also did that on Friday...it makes it much easier for her to get around.
She is looking at me like....Mom, will you please STOP IT! This is so embarrassing!

Awwww! It makes me so sad to see her like that! Nick's, I mean Bryant's, face is absolutely hilarious when he finally touched her.
