We attended Bryant's IEP meeting today at a near by elementary school. It went very well. The kids behaved despite Bradley having an ear infection and Bryant having been at school. I picked B up from school early and the meeting was at 12:30. As thought, Bryant will receive speech therapy through Cobb County. He will attend a small group speech therapy class at Tritt Elementary School one time per week for 1 hour. We did not inform the school of his PDD diagnosis as we felt that it wouldn't hold any merit. They strictly look at the scores from the testing they perform as well as parent interviews. While he did score a low average his scores were in an acceptable range for his age which disqualified him from receiving additional special needs services. Based on their evaluation his sensory issues and other behaviors should not impede on his ability to learn and thrive in a preschool environment. Next steps will be to enroll him at Tritt Elem. then determine what day and time he will go there. His teacher should be contacting us next week. We will also need to decide on which private speech therapist to continue with. He can continue receiving speech privately with his existing BCW therapist, just not under the BCW umbrella, or we can have him see Melanie at BB where he receives OT. Decisions, decisions...we might have to change his wee school schedule to two days/wk vs. three to accommodate therapy...especially if his OT needs to move to Wednesday. I may have forgotten to mention that his OT therapist needs to change her schedule. So many moving parts. Bryant is too young to have such a complicated social calendar.

October
We are half way through October which means a very special boy of mine is having a birthday very soon. I cannot believe how fast time is going by.
I love this picture. He was sitting in his chair working his puzzle and we were talking about his birthday. He turns around and if you notice he is kind of counting with his fingers. We were naming all of the people coming to his birthday party. He was so cute. I think he understands a little bit. They have celebrated a couple of his school friends birthdays so he knows "happy birthday". My brother also celebrated a birthday so we talked about that a lot. Plus, his birthday party decorations have the dining room pretty messy right now so he knows that it is his "happy birthday party" and "happy birthday suckers". Poor buddy is being so understanding about having suckers in plain sight and understanding those are for his birthday and he cannot have them until his birthday.
Other than party planning, not much else is going on these days. The boys and I have been sick with colds/sinus yuck, again. Not fun. Moms don't get sick days. Nick has managed to stay well, but he is predicting that he will be sick by tomorrow. We will see...
Nick's dad drove over for a visit. The boys enjoyed playing with Awgie...
I found this picture and had to share. We switched Bryant's crib to a bed last month because he started trying to climb out. It really wasn't a difficult transition, but we would find him in this position, a lot...
Sometimes he would even be in floor. I would look at the monitor and he wouldn't be in his bed, so I'd go in the room, and he would be in the floor, asleep. I started watching him more on the monitor...he would get up and get a book and bring it to his bed and look at it and just fall asleep. So cute. I snagged this picture when I went in there to put him back in the bed. Dixie has to be a part of everything...

almost all done
We are on the home stretch. No more Evaluations!!!!!!! well kinda.
All that's left on our list is Bryant's IEP meeting with the school system. That date is tbd.
I was also able to get his Pediatric Neurology appointment on the calendar for January 2nd. Halleluiah!
Bryant had his 1 year OT re-evaluation yesterday. Boy, oh Boy, he has come such a long way in a year. Brittany says he has made great progress and has done very well at meeting his goals. This is kind of hard to understand without looking at the paperwork, but basically in order for Bryant to pass and potentially exit OT he must be at 50%. Based on Brittany's evaluation Bryant is performing at 37% (compared to 33-35 month olds). He is close but still has things to continue working on, plus specific challenges/goals that Nick and I have for him.
Bryant had his speech evaluation for private therapy this morning before school. He did so well! Miss Melanie works at Building Blocks where Bryant receives OT. He knows her and interacts with her so I knew this evaluation would be easy breezy for him. She said he sat in his chair the whole time during the evaluation and did so well for her (50 minutes). She tested his vocabulary and his articulation. There where two tests for vocabulary; receptive and expressive language. The average test score range is 85-115. Bryant scored a 95 for expressive language and a 98 for receptive. He did so great! The test for articulation has the same score range. He scored a 79 which is below average. I knew his articulation score would be below average, but for it to be that close to the average rage was shocking. B is a superstar! He is doing so, so well. I think school is helping so, so much. Plus, all the work his speech therapist, Miss Tawanda, has done with him to get him to this point. Well, and I cannot leave out that he has an awesome mommy and daddy :)
Melanie will provide us with a full evaluation report so we can see where his weakness are...what sounds he has the most trouble with and put a game plan together to get him on track. She recommends seeing him once a week for 1 hour. So, once we understand what the school will offer him we will make our decision about private therapy.
Bryant also had his Physical therapy evaluation after school today. I didn't see it going too bad or being shocked by anything as I know what his abilities are. There is nothing wrong with him and he has no trouble keeping up with other kids his age. He is just a little behind developmentally. For example, he can jump but he jumps like a 27 month old would jump. Bryant is 35 months. He also has trouble coordinating his body to move certain ways. The same thing he experiences with his fine motor development. We just need to find out what we can do for him to get his gross motor abilities up to speed. He needs to be outside kicking and throwing balls around, running and jumping, etc. Honestly, the skills are there, he just needs practice. I'm not any good at sports so he got the wrong mom when it comes to doing anything athletic. The therapist said he has pretty good core strength and his thighs are pretty bulky/toned for his size/stature. Beef cake Bryant! He does have low tone in his upper body...and like all other people one leg is longer than the other. My main reason for going today was so they could help us correct his pigeon toes. Unfortunately, I learned today that there isn't any specific therapy they can do to correct it. You have to wait for them to pretty much grow out of it. We will get a full report in about two weeks, but the therapist that evaluated him today did say he would benefit from therapy, but not doing it would be ok too. It's pretty much our own judgement call.

10 months and back to AL
Bradley turned 10 months on the 25th. Time is flying. He got his two bottom teeth last month and this month brought the top two. These top two are a couple of chompers...no wonder the poor buddy has been so up in arms lately. I have a feeling he will be walking by his birthday. He prefers to be standing and is letting go more and more. He is also cruising around with more confidence. He just wants to be right there with Bryant...Bryant doesn't particularly care for that. Well, sometimes...
Bradley refuses to eat baby food. One taste of table food and he was hooked. He also hates to wear a bib. Case in point...he wears his food. Chicken noodle soup for dinner. He loved every bite that made it to his mouth...
Bryant showing how he eats his cereal like Dixie eats her food...
We headed to AL Thursday afternoon. The boys love going to Ga-Ga and Pap-Paps house.
Pap-Pap and Bradley playing...
We eat our popsicle off the ground here...The poor bud wouldn't let me hold it for him, insisted on holding it himself, dropped it, then ate if off the ground...
The boys enjoyed their time outside...
Bathtime...
Patch has to be apart of it. Actually, he just wants the rubber ducky...
Bryant helping Pap-Pap make biscuits...
We can't leave things lying around anymore...someone likes to explore...
Caught him playing with the blinds...
Good times in AL, but glad to be back in GA for a while. We are home for the next three weekends!!!

another weekend in AL
Prizes from Ga-Ga and Pap-Pap...
Good morning...I'm ready for my biscuit, Pap-Pap...
Holding Mickey, watching Mickey...
Play date on Thursday with my buddy Charlotte...
For whatever reason they decided drinking from the fountain would be better than using their cups...
Hugs...Thank you for playing with me today...
I got the pic just before they both fell to the ground. Bryant broke Charlotte's fall.
Mommy and Daddy had another great game day date...Being on campus always takes me back...Good times!
Bryant was sick all weekend and Bradley had a stuffy nose. I actually took Bryant to the Dr. Wednesday morning before school and they said he just had a cold. I kept him home from school, of course. Bradley was cutting his two front teeth. Poor bear. We left for AL Wednesday night as Nick had recruiting commitments on UAs campus Thursday and Friday. Bryant was a pill all weekend because he didn't feel well at all. Thank goodness for Ga-Ga sleeping in the recliner with him for two nights.
Bradley now has a cough and runny nose. Bryant seems to be feeling better but he still has a runny nose and little cough. I will probably be heading back to the Dr. tomorrow with both of them.
